Blogging - Education in the 21st Century

Blogging is just another technology tool that fosters discussion and expression of ideas.  There is something about a "live" discussion that motivates "authors" to speak authentically and thoughtfully (with a bit of guidance from teachers, of course).  Students are global citizens and blogging is another way to be a participant in the ever-flattening world.  Keep the discussion going and the learning continues :).

Blogging as a 21st century tool opens up the learning environment to all students. It provides the highway for students to travel down many roads of learning no matter what their strengths, interests or modalities

Blogs can be a great way to have students respond to various questions regarding topics in social studies and have students collaborate to build understanding.

Blogging has become a 21st century tool as it provides students and teachers with a different and interesting outlet of communication.  Students are also challenged to work with other classmates collaboratively and critically.

One goal of blogging would be to have students improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

I can see myself using blogs in my classroom for the kids and I to share ideas during their web page design and also when using Alice -- think I will also add to my web page as a communication tool with parents and students

I can see how a blog could be a valuable tool for teachers, kids, and parents. At the hs level you never know what actually gets home when you send it and by creating newsletters, etc. on a blog site it would allow parents access as well as communication tools. I've never tried to create one, but there's always a first time, right?

Its the simplicity of being able to type a few thoughts and get them out to many people. One way to use a blog would be to put out a daily/weekly update of what going on with the network or any updates/problems going on with the network.
